Turning Over a New leaf
Since we moved into our new house we’ve decided that now is a good a time as any to try a little harder to be a little better. When we bought this house we promised ourselves that we were actually going to have a good attitude about going to church and we were going to try to make some new friends. We really haven’t enjoyed going to church since we lived in our basement apartment and that was 3 years and 3 wards ago! In the last 3 years you would have never seen us a ward activity and we would only be seen on the back row during sacrament meeting sitting by ourselves and eating candy.
Our new ward is having a hoe down in 2 weeks and we already have a babysitter lined up!! I actually went to enrichment for the first time in years last month and I’m even starting to go to a weekly enrichment group (pilates)! We’ve been to a couple parties with our new ward friends and Paul is going to be playing flag football on Saturday with some of the guys. I know, for us this is a huge step!
It’s amazing how having people you look forward to seeing makes such a difference with our desire to go to church. For the last 3 years it’s been like pulling teeth to get us to go and stay the whole time. Now, I actually look forward to attending church. As many of my friends can attest to, this is defiantly a big change for me and I hope I can continue to enjoy this ward. I even have a calling I’m excited about; Laurel Advisor (I work with the 16-18 girls for those who don’t know what that is). I hope I enjoy the other leaders in YW’s as much as I’ve enjoyed my friends in Relief Society. Even though we still sit in the back row at church, we at least have friends who like to sit there too.
