It was a typical Thanksgiving around here.  Good food, good friends, turkey bingo, and a few random “thanksgiving orphans” who joined us for the festivities.

I started the day though, in a way I NEVER thought I would.  By running a 4 mile race?!?

Traci and I decided we needed a goal to work towards and to get us through running on those rainy cold mornings. So, Earn Your Turkey race it was.

Ruby and I waiting for Traci at the trailhead one rainy morning

We rewarded ourselves with breakfast at kneaders the first time we ran 3 miles!

Turned out to be surprisingly fun and not freezing.

I think it was about 27 degrees out when we headed to the race at 7:45 am.

Paul even hauled all the kids to see me cross the finish line.  That might have actually been harder than running 4 mies.

It actually was a great start to the day.   Then it was straight home to get the turkey in the oven.

I felt very little stress this year getting everything prepped.  I think it was partly due to my morning run and that this is about the 10th time I’ve hosted Thanksgiving, but mostly it was because Ruby was locked in her room playing and then she actually took a nap. :)

We were too busy eating food to get a group shot with everyone, but luckily Paul remembered after Turkey Bingo.  So, you get the idea.

My Thanksgiving Highlights

Our new oven came in time

Perfection.

I think one of Paul’s highlights was the amazing leftovers he got to enjoy.
