Crazy to think it’s been 10 years since I lived with these girls:

Since we can no longer ignore the fact that we are actually not 19 anymore, we decided we needed a reunion to prep ourselves for turning 30! And what better way to do it then getting together in Topsail, NC for a week with no children.

It was so nice to hang out with a group of girls that I could completely be myself around. Where no one talked about how they wanted plastic surgery (a way too common topic here in Utah). There was no competition about whose kid was the smartest or whose house was the cleanest. And there was no judgement past when my opinion differed. To say it was refreshing would be a huge understatement.

I had a few goals for the week:

1. laugh so hard, I cried.

This was easily accomplished on our first night. Totally forgot how fun using the timer on a camera can be. If you haven’t done it lately, do it.

2. Finish a book.
3. See dolphins.
4. Hold Emily’s hand while catching a wave.
5. Stay in comfy clothes all day.
and
6. Lounge in the oceanside hammock

I am happy to report, I easily accomplished all of the above.

A few more highlights of the week included:
A 20 mile bike ride around the island.

Taking pictures on the beach at night. Yes, we are easily entertained.

Favorite Things Party

Meeting up with one of our favorite friends from college, Rob.

and
Of course talking about anything and everything.

I am so grateful for these girls, they are the main reason I loved college so much and a huge part of who I am. I pray everyday that my kids will make good friends like these.

I am now ready to get back to real life. I feel refreshed and rejuvenated. I’ve been reminded that I need to be a bit more laid back and relaxed, like I was 10 years ago. And I feel more confident in myself and my decisions.

It’s amazing what hanging out with good friends can do to you!

I can’t wait until our next reunion!
