This last week I had the chance to go to Girls Camp with my ward (For those of you that don’t know what this is, it’s a church camp for 12-18 yr old girls in the area). I was little nervous at first because their camp is so much different than what I experienced growing up. They camp together as wards, we were divided up by age. They sleep on the floor in a-frames, we slept on beds in cabins. They don’t have useable showers, we did. Despite the differences though I had a blast!

I realized that even though I’ve seen these girls almost every Sunday and Wednesday since I got called in October, there is no better or faster way to get to know them then a week at Girls Camp. At Girls Camp I got to see their personalities come out full force and they got to see that there is much more to me too than just a leader. I can’t remember the last time I cried so many times just from laughing. Or the last time I didn’t mind getting up at 7:00 in the morning. Or even the last time I just sat around and talked about boys and kissing!

I went into Girls Camp liking most of the girls and maybe loving a few, but I left loving every single girl! I am so grateful that I have the chance to work with these girls and be their friend. They are great examples to me and I become even more impressed with them everyday.
