For the first time in motherhood I think I actually over scheduled us!! We had soccer, dance, karate, musical theater, track, ward party planning, potty training, sports camp, teacher appreciation, remodel, and then all the normal things!

So, glad I already promised myself no summer camps for the kids!  I am already worn out.

Sport Camp

This was Miles' 2nd year and can I tell you, huge difference! There was still some crying and whining before hand, but once we got there he was a champ.

Last year I think he spent half the time on the wall or crying to me.

It was good for me to see some improvement and that it really is worth pushing and forcing this kid to get out of his comfort zone.

The soccer season also finished!  Still haven't decided if we will do it again, I am tired.

But once again, huge difference from last year.

The one thing Miles was most excited about this month was his First Grade program at school.

He practiced every day for weeks.  I had to make a playlist of the all the songs so he could practice in the car.  He rocked it.

Macey lived at the Scera Theater towards the end of the month.  Between classes, rehearsals and the performances...it was a lot.

Her Showteam Class did "The Jungle Book"  She was Kaa and a bumble bee.

And seriously, we have a tween on our hands.

Georgia put hair extentions in her braid. :)

Two of her favorite things.  Listening to music and facetiming with Kaylin.

I can already picture the teenage days ahead of us.

Easter happened.

neighborhood egg hunt was a success.

as was easter in the middle of the remodel.  It at least gave us some new places to hide baskets.

And Ruby got to wear my favorite dress from Macey's toddler days.

I had to help plan the Spring Ward Party.  I'm not a big ward activity attendee, so this was a lot outside of my comfort zone.

We decided on a Spring Fling Dance.

I'd say it was a success. And my kids were just happy we finally let them go to a ward party. :)
Other Exciting happenings around here:

Paul bought a nintendo switch.

It has been all Zelda and Mario Cart.

Miles formed a Bug Club.  It has been hilarious.  He has them earning rewards based on how many bugs they've caught.  They even earned a party with treats and a movie.

Ruby and Crew have joined in on the bug hunting, although they are not official members of "The Bug Club".

We made Teacher Appreciation Posters.  It was heaven not being in charge and only having to decorate 2 doors.  Macey and Miles have the absolute best teachers this year, so it was fun having an excuse to bring in their favorite treats and let them know how wonderful they are.

The most exciting event this month (besides the remodel, which will be another post), was that I had the genius idea to potty train Ruby.

It's gone about as well I expected.

All the kids helped though, so that made it nice.  And Ruby even pooped while Miles was watching her and he wiped her bum, washed her hands, and gave her a sticker.  I was a bit shocked when I came downstairs to check on them.  Looks like Miles is more responsible that I give him credit for.
She's pretty well potty trained.  But, she's stubborn and busy and has no desire to please.  Which means we still have accidents from time to time and I have to remind much more than I did any of the other kids.

but I am seeing the light and just have to push through.

I love the Bug Camp! And I would have totally loved going to a Spring Fling Dance! Great idea. Also, from your Bryce post - that place is gorgeous! It made me wish we were campers and were taking our kids to all these cool places you and Paul go to. Nice memories in the making...

MARCH MADNESS ADVENTURES

Apr 5, 2017
We switched up our routine this month and found some new places to have adventures and explore.

UTAH LAKE

While we have of course been to Utah Lake State Park before, we've always gone for some sort of event, so we hadn't actually explored.

So, exploring we did.

The highlight was finding some very cool rocks.

Ashley then introduced us to an area of Utah Lake that we had not been to before.

It was kid heaven.  Mud, water, tall grass to hide in, a plank bridge and rocks.

And does anyone else's kids play The 3 Billy Goat Gruff every single time they cross a bridge on foot?   Well, mine do.  And I was a billy goat and the troll more times than I can count.

We loved this new place so much, we took Paul and M&M there the next Saturday.

I foresee many more explorations taking place here.

HANGTIME

Michelle and I took the little kids to toddler time at Hangtime.

It was awesome.  Michelle and I impressed our children with our skills. I was completely worn out.  And it proved to me why I don't go when it's open to the public.

YOGA WITH THE SHARKS

A highlight of the month for me was doing Yoga at the aquarium.

It was one of the best girls nights I have ever had.  We got to do yoga outside the shark tank, then explore the entire aquarium kid free, and then dinner afterwards.

DOUBLE DATE ANIMAL RIDING

Now, we have taken the kids to ride these animals at the mall, but this time it was an adult only double date.

It was amazing.  We got some sweet video.  We got lots of laughing in. And it's always nice to have a reminder to not take yourself too seriously. :)

SCHOOL PROGRAMS

The 4th grade put on an awesome program about Utah's history.

Macey sang her little heart out and did a great job memorizing her lines.  Love me a good elementary program.

We of course also frequented some of our favorite spring locations:

BYU

FARM COUNTRY

THE POND

loved all the snow on the mountains and these kids shocked us by actually playing and swimming in the freezing water.

Like every March, I also got myself a sweet tan/burn line from the many hours I spent sitting at the park with some of my favorite ladies.

I have also been sporting this sweet accessory at the park from time to time.

Fanny Packs are extremely useful.  I've got all my necessities front and center while being hands free and not worrying about my phone falling out of my pocket.   Plus, it's a good exercise for not worrying about what the other very stylish moms think. :)

SOCCER

Spring soccer has started up again.  Thus far we have not been lucky in the weather department.  But Miles hasn't minded one bit.

ANTELOPE ISLAND

We ventured out to Antelope Island before the bugs hit, that's 3 years in a row for us without any nightmarish bug stories.

We brought the O'Neals with us and the kids loved having friends to explore with.

Buffalo Point is one of my kids absolute favorite places to hike to.

There are few things they love more than rocks to climb and hide in.

Crew was quite happy this year that he could climb to all the same places as the big kids.

It was a bit stressful for me though. :)

And how cute are these little bffs?!?
Nailed another group selfie.

Then we ventured down to the Great Salt Lake.

I'd say it was a very successful month around here.

What fun times - I love reading about all of them. I really want to go to the mall and ride the animals. Shark Yoga is so cool but that sunburn is awful. Macey loves to perform and I wish I could hear her. Miles is doing so good at soccer and what a great group of hikers! I have never seen Ashley's husband before.

august

Sep 8, 2016
And just like that, August is behind us, and we are back in the full swing of craziness.

We tried to suck out every last ounce of summer before school started and even a little bit more after. :)

It's crazy to think we were able to fit so much in with the Stephen's visit and our camping trip to Bear Lake, but there is just too much summer fun to be had.

- We got the waterslide out one more time for the big kids.

it was quite crazy, as usual.

Then, once they were all back in school, we had a toddler party.

It was pure heaven.

We had five 2 year old girls and they just played and played. We dreamed about what life would be like if we didn't have boys...we decided we could handle many afternoons just like this one.  There was no sword fighting, wrestling, hitting, attempts to knock the slide over.

I can't remember the last time (if ever) I witnessed a play date so serene.

I think Ruby logged the most slides down the water slide and this was her face everytime she came out. :)

These boys were there too, but they just entertained themselves and we didn't see much of them.

It was pretty much a perfect afternoon, sitting in the shade talking with my friends while our children actually played nicely and quietly.

- Ashley graduated from college, so we had to have a dance party to celebrate.

It was an absolute blast.  We impressed all the kids with our sweet moves.  And we are already looking for an excuse to have another one.

- We made our last Splash Pad and Pond visits.

- The boys both learned how to ride their bikes without training wheels, but for some reason I only have a picture of Crew documented.

- We did an end of summer backyard clean up and the kids picked weeds for the first time. They loved it.

- Had a much needed girls night with some of my favorites.

It's always the best when you're laughing so hard you cry.

-Miles started soccer and is doing amazing!

and by amazing, I don't mean he's scoring tons of goals.

I mean, he is participating, having fun, trying, and not throwing fits!!!!

He also thinks he belongs to the Everett family, so he can often be found photo bombing their family pictures.

And he has also convinced Ellie to take him almost every Sunday to Riverwoods to catch Pokemon.

We have one happy 6 year old around here.

And I've been keeping busy with these 2 while the big kids are at school all day.

Next up, back to school pics.  Only a few weeks late. :)
