After Washington and Vegas, the main goal that first week was to get the house ready to list.  This meant lots of cleaning and keeping kids outside.   I also had a goal to enjoy our spring weather, before the hot temperatures arrived.  In other words, we were CRAZY busy.

First on the To-Do list was an Activity Days Recognition Night that Ashley and I were in charge of.

We killed it.  And it felt amazing to have that behind me so I could focus on the stuff I really needed to do.

Like take a walk by the river and throw lots of sticks in.

And play at lots of different parks.

And enjoy our favorite Shaved Ice stand, that opened within walking distance to our house!

Everyone was a bit stressed out after a crazy few weeks of house stuff and work stuff and kid stuff.  So, I made the executive decision that we needed "A Nature Fix", so we headed to the mountains instead of church. :)

It was just what we needed.

We took our time.  Explored the creek.

Climbed trees and logs.  Made bridges.

Found secret trails.  Had a picnic.
There was lots of "You Shall Not Pass!!"

And Ruby ended our hike in about the same manner she always does, covered in dirt. The true sign of a good time.

I love seeing these kids in their element and watching what their curious minds come up with.

I've been trying to do more adventuring with Ruby before we pick Crew up from kindergarten at noon.

Love this weather and these friends.

Macey finished up her Scera Youth Theatre class with her performance of The Phantom Toolbooth.  She was a demon and The Countess of Connotation.

Then they had the SYT Review, where each class performed 2 of their songs.  She had a singing solo and a dance solo in this one.

We also made sure to soak up lots of neighborhood time.  We will still get to hang out with all our friends here, since we aren't moving very far away.  But, it just won't be the same as having them all right out our front door.

Plus, I will miss this tiny backyard too.

Macey and Tajen spend lots of time using the Easy Bake Oven back here.

Everyone is going to miss having Tajen around all the time.

How cute are these 2?!?  It will be different living 4 blocks from him when we are all used to having his front door 30 feet from ours.

And these best friends too.  You know it's a great Sunday when you get to share your seat with your BFF.

tear.  Luckily I have 2 more weeks to soak it all in.

Another highlight of the month was getting box seats at a Real Game.  Unlimited good food and good friends.  My favorite kind of evening.

Now it's time to pack.

You have been truly blessed to have so many wonderful friends & neighbors. They may not be right outside your front door but they are only around the corner and the kids are big enough now to be able to make this transition. I am sad to also not have all of these people outside your door when we come to visit.
Angie
I love the picture of Ruby between the front door and the screen door! LOL Your mom is right - your kids can bike back over now. That's a good perspective! You really did rock it with that backyard. You're like a HGTV star, how to make small spaces amazing.

Some of December

Jan 5, 2018
We had grandparents at our house for 17 of the 31 days this month, talk about lucky kids.  This also meant Macey, Miles, and Crew shared a room for 17 days this month...this equaled some very tired children as they get a little crazy when there's 3 of them in there.

My parents visit was go, go, go.  baptism, dance recital, Macey's winter showcase, ninja class, and so much more.

Ruby's Recital
Ruby was tired and a bit sick on the day of her recital.  She screamed the entire time we got ready and then for the 30 min before her show started.  Luckily her teacher came and grabbed her from me about 10 min to curtain call, Ruby went right to her and then she let Traci put her costume pieces on in their waiting room.  It was a Christmas miracle.

And so worth it, because it was about the cutest 3 year old dance recital I have ever seen.

Ruby loved taking dance with 2 of her (and my) best friends and Miss Jenn was worshiped by these 3 little girls.  Can't wait for dance to start again next week.  And I was so glad my parents actually got to see it, these are the things they usually have to miss.

Macey's Winter Showcase

I am so glad we found the Scera musical theatre class.  This girl loves to perform and I love how organized and amazing all the staff is.

We of course squeezed in lots of game time, a visit to the children's museum, a walk to see the lights at City Center, Christmas Movies, and a drive through World of Color.

these 4 spent most of their time at the magic shop learning all sorts of magic tricks and secrets.  Love it when it's empty.

We also took Nana to Nickel City to celebrate her birthday, since we missed her party.

In between visits we -

Baked cookies.

Saw Star Wars the day before it opened, Paul always knows the right people.

Went to lots of BYU games.

Domo Christmas Party.  Best one yet.  Meaning it was the shortest one yet.

Crew got student of the month.

I seriously die over this kids cuteness every day.

Macey is in full blown tween mode.

And yes, that is my choker from the early 2000's and my old ugly sweater t-shirt she is wearing.

Ruby has a new thing where she puts every toy she owns in her bed at night and then somehow finds a place to sleep in there.

Then we got to do Kindergarten and 5th grade Christmas Parties.

I think Macey's class party was one of my best yet, not to brag. :)

And then it was onto more Christmas Breaking and hanging out with Nana and Opa.

We had the best time and we didn't get sick so that made it even more fun!! Wish we didn't live so far apart! So GLAD Ruby decided to do her dance & that we were there to see it and that we got to see Macey too. They both did so good!! Love and miss you all!!!

more may

May was a whirl of fun and chaos.

Macey finished up the last of her Scera Performances.

She had her dance recital with The Emmie's

And then her Showteam Showcase, where all the acting classes performed 2 of their pieces.

Sunny, but not hot weather, was perfect for hitting up a few of our favorite spots before school was out.

We love this part of the Provo River Trail.  It is usually pretty empty and there's a bunch of cool places to stop and explore.

We had so much fun, we decided to go after school the next week, so all the kids could enjoy it.

Didn't take into account how much higher the river would be!! It was crazy stressful, but our scare tactics worked (we told the kids they would most likely die if they fell in...which was the truth), so they kept their distance.
At least the outing ended on a peaceful note feeding the horses in the parking lot, a safe distance from the raging river.

Thanksgiving Point Gardens

We missed the tulip festival this year, but I didn't mind too much.

There were still a lot of tulips in bloom and barely any people.

Farm Country

It was crazy busy with preschool field trips, so after 30 min we walked up to get some icecream.

Crew was not pleased to walk one block and pretty much screamed and whined the whole way.

Until we got to the little gardens where he told me, "mom, I forgot how beautiful it was here."  No more crying after that.

BYU

campus is one of my happy places.

And if I enter the Cougareat, I cannot leave without a hot loaf of bread with honey butter.  Takes me back. :)

It's pretty much just constant friends and playing around here when the sun is out.

lots of bug catching

bike riding

park playing.
eating

And I've even been allowing children inside!  This is not normal for me, but it's gone fairly well.

We've even attempted a few art projects.

Slime

and bug drawing (for a bug club meeting)

And just random shenanigans with our best neighbors.

Sometimes though we hideout and have lazy mornings and pretend we don't hear the knocks on our door.

And this would be a typical Saturday morning around here.  These 2 playing video games in their underware.  Living the dream.

Speaking of underware...Ruby earned a trip to Chuck E. Cheese for being potty trained.

And we squeezed in our last few errands together before everyone was out of school.

She seems so sweet and content in the shopping cart here, but not 5 min. later she determined I was taking too long and started throwing items out of my cart, biting my hands, throwing her shoes.  It's always an exciting time with Ruby.

I actually had a great mother's day this year.  Thanks to these 4 and Paul.

Got my picture.  Got to read.  And got to eat good food that I didn't make.

We invited ourselves on the Rensink's date to "Me First and The Gimmie Gimmies".

So fun!!  Good music and good company.  But, it reminded me how much I hate mosh pits and I am grateful for the security guard that Julianne and I spent much of our time cowering behind.

And we've been trying to adopt a fairly minimalistic lifestyle around here, but I cannot get this girl on board!

here's hoping we can get it figured out this summer.
