The theme for November was sick. Macey started on Halloween and it passed through everyone and is still lingering a bit even into December ( I am currently on my 2nd round of antibiotics), luckily though there was no puking involved. It's the little things.
Ruby's Temp got to 104.8, it was a bit stressful for a moment, but some popsicles from Gina helped to ease the worry. And it was kind of nice having a calm Ruby to watch movies with for a few days.
Being sick didn't keep kids from finishing off their Halloween candy in record time though.
We worked on a few things around the house.
I purged the linen closet, again, 3 grocery bags of trash. Always amazes me how much things pile up and how much more I dislike clutter now that I've felt the feeling of living with less.
Paul had to replace the basement tub surround and recaulk our shower. We also decided to repaint our bathroom cabinets while we were at it.
Due to sickness we spent a lot more time around the house than normal.
I probably only got fully ready a handful of times this month. Luckily my personal photographer, Ruby, documented one of the 5 times I was dressed in real clothes with makeup on.
She is always underfoot and constantly requests selfies. :)
and is always requesting we look at her and say "Cheese"
There was lots of games, book reading and I even pulled out the littlest petshops to keep us all entertained.
Miles has been VERY difficult lately, but every once in awhile he gives me a moment like this, so I keep him around a little longer.
Also lots of wrestling, running around, and screaming.
Paul is a much better playmate than I am.
We did get a perfect leave jumping day before all the leaves got cleaned up.
Thank goodness for Ruby's dance class at the Rec Center that got me to the gym twice a week to workout with Ashley and Traci.
Traci captured this amazing pic of me showing off my new found skill...a backbend.
We were so ready for Thanksgiving Break!!
And Crew's teacher brought a turkey to recess. :)
park with The Brown's
Bowling at BYU
It was one of my favorite Thanksgivings EVER.
First, we met our friends at the park while our turkey's cooked.
It was amazing and something I could get used too.
I nailed "The Feast" this year and the kids were excited and actually hung out and chatted and ate lots of food.
I let every kid request one item. Mac & Cheese, deviled eggs, yogurt jello, and ham. Paul's favorites were there too.
We had friends over for Turkey Bingo and pie.
And then enjoyed the leftovers for days.
We started our Christmas festivities with a trip to The Riverwoods
Notice the boys have shorts on?!? Warmest November ever.
Then Black Friday we did our, now tradition, hike.
hiking beats shopping any day.
Other Exciting November Happenings:
-BYU basketball games started.
- Ruby went to Sharing Time for the first time and loved helping with singing time.
- Macey called Brenden "her uncle" in her job application paper for school.
- I am an official Walmart Online Grocery Pickup shopper. I have tried every store by my house that does pickup and Walmart is the winner. Pretty much the only store I ever step foot in now is Target and it's heaven.
- Christmas Decorating began
The kids favorite tradition is still collecting their ornaments.
Macey- Snowman, Miles- Transportation, Crew- North Pole, Ruby- Sweet Treats
Now onto the excitement that is December.
Since we are almost to February, I figure I need to document our December before it is too distant a memory.
December was a happy blur of parties, playing, concerts, christmas prep, basketball games, and endless traditions.
Macey performed 2 songs in the Scera Christmas Concert. She even had a solo. I was too busy actually watching the show to get any pictures, but here's a post performance shot with the boys.
And the best part about taking classes at the local theatre is the $2 kid snack packs. Helped them make it through about half the acts.
She also had her first Elementary choir concert.
Crew also rocked his first Preschool concert.
doesn't get much cuter than a bunch of 4 year olds trying to sing songs together.
We got to cheer on BYU at lots of games.
Ringing the victory bell with Cosmo in his Santa Costume. Dream come true.
We lucked out and got 4 of Paul's bosses courtside seats.
dinner, unlimited snacks, amazing view. These kids are getting spoiled.
Paul took a Friday off and we did a quick snow shoe trip while Crew was at Preschool.
turns out Ruby is a bit too heavy for the carrier, but too small for small shoes.
Then Crew happily got to help Paul put up our lights and blow ups. It will be a sad day when this takes more than an hour. :)
Kids favorite tradition was once again getting their new ornaments for the tree.
Crew: North Pole
Ruby: Sweet treats
My favorite tradition is always torturing them with a trip to see Santa.
Ruby was not pleased and for the first time in her entire life clung to her stroller and did not want to get out. Being the good mom I am, I pried those fingers off and handed her over to the stranger with the big beard.
The boys were super into Santa this year and waited in line for 30 min to talk to him again
at the Riverwoods.
We love visiting the Riverwoods during Christmas.
lots of "baking".
We of course went to the Domo Christmas Party. AKA, the only time we get dressed up all year.
School seemed to go FOREVER this year, the 4th grade teachers were smart and took the kids on a field trip to the dinosaur museum.
I love getting to go on field trips and getting to know their friends better and seeing them in their element.
Paul and I took advantage of our babysitters being out of school by going to a morning showing of Rogue One. Can't beat the heaters on those recliners. and it was the best breakfast I have had in a long time. :)
We of course had our lazy moments too.
and I throughly enjoyed Sodalicious' chocolate cookie with peppermint frosting. Tasted just like Christmas.
We soaked up as much of the Decemberness as we could.
Even cleaning was more fun in December, due to Macey singing and dancing for me.
Getting out the Christmas books is always exciting too and it is insane how many I have collected.
I got to take the Activity Day girls from church to the Norman Rockwell exhibit at BYU. It was very cool.
We've been enjoying having 4 tickets to the BYU basketball games this season.
We did our typical visit to the Riverwoods and to see Santa.
And while this girl didn't love Santa, she does love the snow.
And I love it when she's all dressed up in Macey's old clothes.
The highlight of the month though was Nana and Pop-Pop's visit.
We were non stop busy.
Ruby was quite taken with both of them. And pretty much wanted nothing to do with Paul and I the entire time.
There were about a million games of "Go Fish" played.
We had the christmas sing at school and they got to help me in both Macey and Miles' class parties too.
We of course decorated sugar cookies.
Opened Christmas presents.
We took a ride to the North Pole.
Macey and Miles were in complete heaven. Singing songs, playing games. visiting with the "elfs", and of course getting to talk with Santa.
Ruby proved to be a complete pain most of the ride, but it was worth seeing the other 3 have so much fun.
We had plans to snowshoe, but decided to sled instead, as it seemed much less trouble. :)
It was the right choice.
Ruby pretty much wandered around in the snow the entire time and was as happy as could be to have complete freedom.
Pop-Pop and Paul made us a jump.
It was a pretty perfect afternoon.
