Macey's 8th Birthday
Macey's birthday happened last month and it was awesome.
Still can't believe I have an 8 year old
, but I'll cry about that fact in my room later.
Macey loves school and is a strict rule follower while there (home is a different story though). :) Her favorite thing about school is art. She loves to dance, sing, play games, ride her bike, play with Palace Pets, and read. She is a very good friend and is always thinking about other people's feelings. And her favorite color is still white
! I think we are going on 5 years as white as the favorite color.
Macey always asks me, "Aren't you glad you had me first?" And I certainly am glad I did. Our house is always better when Macey is home.
She has been dying for a life size Elsa doll, so when I finally spotted one, I could not pass it up.
First thing she had to do was see who was taller, Crew or Elsa?
Macey's been dying to have a birthday party at Chuck e Cheese
, but I have always said no. This year though the stars aligned for her, as I was both too lazy and too crazy, to handle kids in my house during the winter, so Chuck e Cheese it was.
Turned out to be an awesome decision. It was the most fun I
have ever had at a kid's party as an adult. And Macey didn't stop smiling the entire time.
Since we did the party at 9:30, we pretty much had the place to ourselves, which was amazing.
I love getting to hang out with Macey's friends and getting to know them better.
I had plans to bake a cake, but ended up getting bronchitis, so the Target Bakery pulled through again with a Frozen themed cake.
Paul did a great job of helping kids win tickets, while I was in charge of drink refills, ticket holding, token distribution, and prize picking out helper.
Macey's favorite part was grabbing the 1,000 ticket paper in the ticket blaster!
My favorite part was the party helper who brought all the pizza and pitchers of pop to our table and the fact that I didn't have to have all these kids running around my house.
And this cardboard cutout was quite entertaining as well.
Pretty much I want my next birthday party there.
Love this girl of mine and I'm so glad she still thinks I'm cool enough to hang out with her.
Since You Only Turn Six Once
Like most things that happened last year
, Macey's 5th birthday wasn't quite as exciting or fun as I would of liked it to be due to the lovely nausea of pregnancy. This year we made up for it.
It began with Macey having her first real friend birthday party. Lucky for me I decided to do it at Creativity Art Studio
, since we were unexpectedly gone for over a week right before her birthday. It was heaven not having to clean and then have my house destroyed by a group of 5 and 6 year olds.
She couldn't of been happier to go to school on her birthday and loved getting to wear a crown all day. Plus, we brought in Fun Dips to share with her class.
After school we met Maddy and Libby at Chuck E Cheese.
She also had Hip-Hop that day and since we can't make homemade treats for school, she really wanted to make marshmallow pops for her dance friends. I obliged, since all I had to do was melt the chocolate for her.
The day then ended with her favorite meal of pancakes, opening presents and a carousel cake with rainbow sherbet ice cream cones.
All in all I'd say it was a good day. Or as Macey said, "That was the best, best, best, best, bestest birthday ever!" Love Birthdays and this girl.

We had Miles' 3rd birthday party this weekend. I wanted to do a Jake and the Neverland Pirates party or perhaps Toy Story, but MIles has always been a child that knows exactly what he wants, so T-Rex
He wanted to invite ALL of macey's friends. We ended up settling on 2 of Macey's friends (who are his friends too)
and then 2 friends his age. But, can I just say Macey and I are lucky we got to attend, there was a few days there where he said that no girls were allowed. I was getting worried.
As Miles is very particular on what he wants, I made sure to run all my ideas through him. I showed him some dinosaur hats and feet I wanted to make. His response, "no Dinosaur feet, T-Rex feet! No dinosaur hats, T-Rex hats!"
I learned pretty quickly this was going to strictly be a T-Rex party, no other dinosaurs allowed. Here is Tajen modeling the hats and T-Rex feet, since my children were uncooperative in this area.
I used this party
as my inspiration and of course changed everything from "dinosaur" to "T-Rex" to please the birthday boy. And Paul used his awesome skills to make me this invitation:
Miles knew exactly what he wanted for his cake: it had to be from target, be chocolate and of course have a t-rex on top. Luckily Target never disappoints.
Some of the decor:
Like Macey's 3rd birthday
we had a coloring table, but this time Miles and I also searched through all our books for the dinosaur ones and this proved to be the most popular activity.
The games consisted of a T-Rex egg hunt
, where the eggs were filled with candy and baby dinosaurs.
A pull string piñata
. This almost didn't happen, as all we could find was a triceratops, which of course wasn't going to work. Luckily Miles did not realize that the one he picked was actually a dragon. :)
and the older kids did an egg race
while Miles and his friend ate all their candy.
He loved being the center of attention and his favorite present, a box of lucky charms, of course. His friends know him all too well.
Miles even gave me a hug part way through the party and said, "Thanks for my T-Rex Party Mama!" That is exactly why I love
Now it's only a few months until I get to do a party for this girl!
Macey's Birthday Festivities Continued...
Since I still feel nauseated most of the time Macey had to plan and decorate for her own party (I let her invite 2 friends over for lunch)
, poor neglected child!
I thought her table arrangement turned out divine!
Macey's menu for her Petshop themed tea party was also very well received by her guests.
We found these gable boxes at Hobby Lobby and thought they'd be perfect to turn into Petshop houses. All I did was pull out my sticker collection from my teaching days and a few boxes of markers, and these lovely ladies were entertained for quite sometime.
Pretty sure party planning could be in her future.
Macey of course also wanted her big friends
to come over (jenni and trina), so I thought this was the perfect excuse for me to make her the rainbow cake I'd seen on Pinterest!

Party Like a Rock Star!
We had a great New Years Party rocking out to Guitar Hero with a few of our friends. We put up a disco ball, built a riser (decked out with lights) for the drums, bought lots of bottled root beer, provided temporary tattoos, and of course dressed up like the rock stars that we are!! Here is the evite that we made:
Counter Clockwise: Jenni, Don, Mandi, Kelsey, Trina, Jeff, Paul, and Vanessa
Here you can kinda see the lighting that we had.
We hope every one else had a great New Years too!
