Nana and Pop-pop finally come to play in the summer!
Nana and Pop-Pop came out to visit right when the kids got out of school.
So, they got to enjoy our first week of summer festivities with us.
We took them to get Shave Ice.
We took them swimming at the pool.
And this was M&M's first time to do the drop slide. I was very impressed. There was no way you'd catch me doing this at 7 and 10 years old!
It was great having 3 adults and 4 kids. We spent a lot of time at the waterslides.
We did a neighborhood trip to the pond, where Nana & Pop-Pop tried their best to hide in the shade.
Got out our waterslide.
Found a new hike to do.
It was beautiful and not crowded, which was crazy since it was Memorial Day.
And then we enjoyed a little mountain picnic.
Debz and I did a little modeling session wearing LuLaRoe Clothes for her new business.
We celebrated the June Birthday's.
Crew loved his new fishing pole from nana and pop-pop.
There was also lots of time spent playing games and hanging around the house (board games, basketball, kickball, book reading, playing monster...)
And of course put Pop-Pop to work around the house.
It was a fun filled week and it was the first time they've been able to come in the summer time. It was heaven not having to be doing the normal schedule of school and after school activities. Plus, the weather was perfection!
Best first week of summer ever!
Nana and Pop-Pop came to spend Christmas with us and it was their first Christmas away from home! We felt very privileged they choose to spend it with us.
Sadly, my mom actually came down with pneumonia while she was here. So, she ended up spending most of her time on the couch observing. :(
Other than the pneumonia, Christmas was quite perfect.
Plus, we were in bed before midnight, Christmas miracle.
And we were on time for 9:00 am church Christmas Morning!!! Turns out getting to go to church on Christmas makes for a pretty great day.
I feel like this picture sums up the kids perfectly. :)
Miles- in constant motion
Macey- wondering how she got stuck with all these crazies
Ruby- screaming and jumping
Crew- distracted by the small object in his hand
Before we left for church we did stockings and santa presents.
I didn't get many pictures due to the chaos and constant movement of hyped up kids. But trust me, it was magical.
Nothing beats getting a real smile out of this girl. The long wished for Lea doll did it.
Ruby didn't put this baby down or take off her stethoscope. Cutest 2 year old ever.
Crew's favorite present was this pirate chest from Granny and Granddad.
You'll notice I got no pictures of Miles. It is because he was so entertaining opening presents, I only got video. :) #momfail
And it once again snowed on Christmas Eve!!! We are getting spoiled around here.
Magical Christmas snow with some of our favorite neighbors to end an amazing Christmas. Perfection. Day after Christmas
was just as it should be.
eating leftovers, putting legos together, playing with toys, sledding, and staying in pjs all day AGAIN.
And this girl sledding was kind of my favorite.
Pop-Pop got lots of runs in too.
And these 2 never got off this sled and I don't think they ever stopped smiling either.
We did get Nana out of the house to sit and watch us bowl later in the week
This girl allowed no one to help her while bowling. It lead to a few pinched fingers, but Miss Independent was quite the proficient bowler.
It was actually much more fun than I anticipated and Crew kind of made my entire day with his sweet bowling moves and glasses.
And then we left Nana with Ruby while the rest of us went snow shoeing
And then we got in some good sledding at the end.
Pop-Pop ended up getting to sleep in the hideout due to Nana being sick. We are pretty amazing hosts with top of the line accommodations.
It was a bit of a different visit, with my mom being so sick, but we so glad they were able to survive the traveling to be with us and that no one else got sick.
After my parents left Paul and I got to go snow shoeing
up Lambs Canyon.
It was beautiful and we didn't see a single sole on the trail. The only downside was the road was closed, so we had to hike 2 miles up the road to get to the trailhead.
This is me being annoyed about it. :) And yes, I have my sled on my pack. We like to be prepared for all conditions.
Utah is the best sometimes.
We couldn't find a babysitter for New Year's Eve
and it turned out to be the best thing ever.
We texted our neighbors to come over for a kid party from 7:30-8:30. :)
We had no food. But we did have a giant saran wrap ball with goodies, glow sticks, music, and noise makers. It was one of my better parties.
We did a count down, had a little dance party and our kids were fast asleep by 9:30. It was a great start to the New Year.
We ended break with a trip to Chuck-E-Cheese and the Puppy Barn.
Love Christmas Break!
Nana comes to town
Nana wanted a "vacation", so what better place to come than a tiny house filled with 4 crazy kids for the weekend. :)
She was just here for the weekend, so there were only a few must do items.
1. Teach Nana how to play Pokemon Go
2. Visit the Puppy Barn
3. Play LOTS of games
4. Go on a hike to see the changing leaves.
The kids favorite part of the hike was hiding in the tall grass and jumping out and scaring us. They could of played this game for hours.
Love me some wide open spaces.
Nana claims we didn't wear her out too much, but we made sure to keep her going with daily trips to Sodalicious.
Can't wait for the next visit.
We got a little bit of everything in April. Rain, snow, and sunshine. No complaints from me, I love a little variety. Which means we also got to do and go on all sorts of adventures.
After we went to Bryce with my parents, we mostly just hung out around the house, went shopping, and put Pop-Pop to work on little projects.
It was perfection.
We stayed home for spring break
this year, while most of our friends went out of town.
Miles had a tearful goodbye with Peter at the park the Friday before break started. He didn't know if he would survive the entire week without his bff.
Luckily, he did. :)
We started off the break by taking a day trip out to Antelope Island
It has become one of our favorite places.
One of their favorite things to do is climb around on rocks, so Buffalo Point is pretty much heaven to them.
And for the first time we actually ventured into the Great Salt Lake.
It did not disappoint. Macey, Crew, and Ruby could of stayed for hours.
Miles, on the other hand, did not like the salt getting in all his cuts and scratches and spent a good amount of time crying and complaining.
Once he settled down though, he had fun playing in the sand. Crew informed us that he likes "the beach with houses better". aka texas. :)
Once everyone dried off, we were all covered in white...there is a lot of salt in that lake!
The only other place we ventured was City Creek
, so I could do a little shopping at Anthropologie and Sephora.
Why, I did that when I had to have all these kids in tow is beyond me? But, it turned out to be a success. And you really can't beat the view at City Creek.
The rest of the time was spend hanging out at home.
We've been reading "The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up", so I did a lot of decluttering and organizing while the kids kept themselves busy.
It's always nice to have Macey around to help keep them entertained.
Plus, she is the best train track builder around.
We released Macey's butterflies.
Watching these butterflies go through their life cycle was awesome. The kids were sad to say goodbye to Late Larry (we released him 2 days after the others), Miles Junior, and the other 3 butterflies, whose names I can't remember. :)
Crew was a bit upset one morning, because even though it was spring break, I still wouldn't let him have popsicles for breakfast.
And what's spring break without hanging out with our favorite neighbors.
Love these people.
So, even though it was a bit lonely without some of our bff's in town, I know it was a successful spring break because every night the kids feet were black. Always the sign of a good day.
This month the kids started to remember that they actually do like hiking
There's always tears and whining when we load up them up to go, but usually the moment we are in the mountains they are just happy to be free.
And they actually get along and help each other!
We even took the Everett's up one weekend to make S'mores.
The kids loved showing them some of their favorite spots.
Can't beat hiking with your best friend.
And this rare moment was also captured. These mountains have been good to us this spring.
We also took the kids kicking and screaming to the tulip festival.
Like always, Paul and I were right, and they ended up having a great time.
In the spring there never seems to be a shortage of kids
Makes the afternoons pass much more quickly when there's friends to keep you entertained.
We also got the pleasure of going to the Temple with 2 of our favorite people.
Holly at the Payson Temple.
Trina at the Draper Temple.
And Jenni and I got to throw a very fun filled bridal shower for Trina.
To end the month Macey had her long awaited Musical, Aladdin: A Tale Told Inside Out.
She played Magic Carpet. She had a few lines, acted in many scenes, got to sing at the microphone and danced in 4 or 5 dances. She LOVED it.
Although the weight of her costume pulling on her neck got to her by the end of the 2nd performance. Hence the face. :)
Love this family of mine and all the adventures we get to share.
We soaked up as much of the Decemberness as we could.
Even cleaning was more fun in December, due to Macey singing and dancing for me.
Getting out the Christmas books is always exciting too and it is insane how many I have collected.
I got to take the Activity Day girls from church to the Norman Rockwell exhibit at BYU. It was very cool.
We've been enjoying having 4 tickets to the BYU basketball games this season.
We did our typical visit to the Riverwoods and to see Santa.
And while this girl didn't love Santa, she does love the snow.
And I love it when she's all dressed up in Macey's old clothes.
The highlight of the month though was Nana and Pop-Pop's visit.
We were non stop busy.
Ruby was quite taken with both of them. And pretty much wanted nothing to do with Paul and I the entire time.
There were about a million games of "Go Fish" played.
We had the christmas sing at school and they got to help me in both Macey and Miles' class parties too.
We of course decorated sugar cookies.
Opened Christmas presents.
We took a ride to the North Pole.
Macey and Miles were in complete heaven. Singing songs, playing games. visiting with the "elfs", and of course getting to talk with Santa.
Ruby proved to be a complete pain most of the ride, but it was worth seeing the other 3 have so much fun.
We had plans to snowshoe, but decided to sled instead, as it seemed much less trouble. :)
It was the right choice.
Ruby pretty much wandered around in the snow the entire time and was as happy as could be to have complete freedom.
Pop-Pop and Paul made us a jump.
It was a pretty perfect afternoon.
