December part 1
December couldn't of started off more perfect. A snow storm came!!
We were quite excited and hit up our favorite sledding spot with our neighbors.
We visited the aquarium some more.
Mom hikes are still going strong and keeping me sane.
Like every December there were about a million performances.
Crew had his first grade program.
Macey's orchestra class had a little performance. I was quite impressed with what they had learned with 90 min a week for a few months.
Michelle and I took the girls to see The Christmas Carol at the Hale Center Theatre.
Macey had her Scera Youth Theatre Christmas Review.
They did a great job, as always.
And Ruby had her Christmas dance Recital.
which was just 30 min of pure cuteness.
Doing dance with these friends has been one of our favorite things.
they get to hang out and run around together and Traci, Ashley and I get to workout and chat. It was a win-win all around.
Ruby, was very specific with her flower choice for after her performance.
I passed the test.
Ruby is as strong willed as ever.
She decided she didn't want to go to preschool one morning, but my sanity depended on her going. So, I had to drag her to the car kicking and screaming. I tripped over an out of place stool in the garage and since I was carrying Ruby and was terrified of her hitting her head on the cement garage floor, I cradled her body and tore mine up in the process.
Luckily I had a really thick sweater on and yes, I went to preschool drop off with blood dripping down my arm. This injury was not going to be in vain. :)
She is a not stop drawer, my first one. I cannot keep my scratch paper stocked. My favorite is that she alway includes belly buttons on her people.
We visited Santa.
It was all going very smoothly.
And then Santa asked Miles if he's been being good. Miles then started crying and ran away down the hallway of the mall.
Through my amazing terrorist negotiation skills, I convinced him to just sit by Santa. I was not requiring any smiling or talking. This is what we got.
won't be a Santa visit we will be forgetting anytime soon.
My parents came to visit this month and go to enjoy some of the above chaos with us.
We also took them to Just Add Chocolate.
Made sugar cookies.
We got to help in Miles' insanely over the top Polar Express Day at school.
Introduced them to Dave and Busters.
Played lots of games.
Had a mini Christmas
And decorated one gingerbread house. I thought about branching out and buying multiple, but all kids were content with decorating their one side, so we are sticking with one house. :)
Always a good visit.
Paul and I also threw our first real party at the new house. I didn't get any pictures. But, I did get a picture of my sweet outfit.
Obviously the party was a huge success.
The kids were sad we made them go to bed and they missed out on the festivities, so we played another round of Soda Pong with them the next day. it's a family favorite.
My cousin Matthew and his family came into town, so had fun meeting up with them a few times.
We hadn't seen them since they moved away when Crew was a newborn and it was so fun to meet their kids!
and we thought about taking our Trampoline down for the winter, but are glad we didn't because it has been jumped on pretty much every day. Rain or shine.
Next up Christmas break Festivities.
March is normally one of my favorite months in Utah, this year though the weather didn't live up to my expectations! We had lots of sunny days, just cold. After winter though, we had to get outside, even if it was colder than normal.
you can't tell in the pic, but we went to the park on a super windy day. Perfect for kite flying.
Julianne and I took the kids on a scooter ride up the canyon.
We underestimated the amount of snow that would be on the trail. Made for some adventurous scootering, lots of wet shoes and socks, and some crying.
A big storm was suppose to come in, so we were excited to go snowshoeing with Kacie and Blaine. The expected storm didn't come, so it was more of ice walking. Entertaining none the less.
No parents volunteered to go with Miles' class to the zoo. The weather forcast was horrible, one of the 2nd grade teachers even backed out. I did not want to go at all.
We lucked out though, the storm didn't come and we had the whole zoo to ourselves. So glad I let myself be guilted into going, this time.
Ruby and I ventured out a few scooter rides this month.
She is always entertaining company and often has to stop to peek through people's fences.
Plus, she doesn't mind when I sport my fanny pack.
Ruby also finished up her 2nd dance class this month.
They were adorable and it was always the highlight of both our weeks. Ruby got to dance and play outside the rec center. And I got to workout and chat with my friends.
We are missing dance already.
Seriously, 3 year olds in dance are kind of my favorite thing ever.
Another moment when she just looked too big for me to handle.
Just getting ready for bed all by herself.
So much neighborhood kickball this winter.
So glad our favorite place to spend sunny afternoons is right out our front door.
Kids have also been dying to go fishing and have been practicing casting over the fence into Jeff's backyard. :)
Paul had a birthday, it was thrilling.
Macey did knowledge bowl for the first time. These kids are smart, they knew way more than i did!
A big highlight of the month was Crew loosing his first tooth.
Even though he's getting giant, at least he still needs some cuddles from time to time.
Some of December
We had grandparents at our house for 17 of the 31
days this month, talk about lucky kids. This also meant Macey, Miles, and Crew shared a room for 17 days this month...this equaled some very tired children as they get a little crazy when there's 3 of them in there.
My parents visit was go, go, go. baptism, dance recital, Macey's winter showcase, ninja class, and so much more. Ruby's Recital
Ruby was tired and a bit sick on the day of her recital. She screamed the entire time we got ready and then for the 30 min before her show started. Luckily her teacher came and grabbed her from me about 10 min to curtain call, Ruby went right to her and then she let Traci put her costume pieces on in their waiting room. It was a Christmas miracle.
And so worth it, because it was about the cutest 3 year old dance recital I have ever seen.
Ruby loved taking dance with 2 of her (and my) best friends and Miss Jenn was worshiped by these 3 little girls. Can't wait for dance to start again next week. And I was so glad my parents actually got to see it, these are the things they usually have to miss. Macey's Winter Showcase
I am so glad we found the Scera musical theatre class. This girl loves to perform and I love how organized and amazing all the staff is.
We of course squeezed in lots of game time, a visit to the children's museum, a walk to see the lights at City Center, Christmas Movies, and a drive through World of Color.
these 4 spent most of their time at the magic shop learning all sorts of magic tricks and secrets. Love it when it's empty.
We also took Nana to Nickel City to celebrate her birthday, since we missed her party.
In between visits we -
Saw Star Wars the day before it opened, Paul always knows the right people.
Went to lots of BYU games.
Domo Christmas Party. Best one yet. Meaning it was the shortest one yet.
Crew got student of the month.
I seriously die over this kids cuteness every day.
Macey is in full blown tween mode.
And yes, that is my choker from the early 2000's and my old ugly sweater t-shirt she is wearing.
Ruby has a new thing where she puts every toy she owns in her bed at night and then somehow finds a place to sleep in there.
Then we got to do Kindergarten and 5th grade Christmas Parties.
I think Macey's class party was one of my best yet, not to brag. :)
And then it was onto more Christmas Breaking and hanging out with Nana and Opa.
This was our theme for September.
Macey did not think it was funny. :) #truth
The reality is it's pretty much chaos around here all the time, but usually it is the good chaos. Well, until 5:00 rolls around, then it's usually the bad kind.
Crew and Ruby are my constant companions and I am just trying to remind myself that they will never love me more than they do right now. So, I try to enjoy being constantly climbed on and talked to and followed. Luckily I still enforce quiet time to give me some time to recover.
And reading with this kindergartner is one of my favorite parts of my day.
The highlight of the month for Ruby was starting dance class
with Hailey and Izella.
She's been dying to have a teacher of her own ever since the kids went back to school. She was always asking me "What my teacher name? My teacher going to like me?" Her long awaited day came and she now has a teacher of her own, Miss Jenn.
She loves dance and I love watching her. I am also shocked by how calm she is in class, not what I expected. And after her first class she fell asleep on the way home (11:00 am), obviously there was a lot of pent up excitement.
One of the best parts though, is Ashley, Traci and I actually get to workout for 45 min during their class. It's one of the highlights of my week. September was full of friends.
Cora came to town to visit, so Macey got to spend almost 2 days with the Rensinks and we borrowed Peter for a late night.
bottom left pic: The Everett kids were locked out one afternoon and my kids were overjoyed to find them sitting on the grass out front. They instantly tackled them and forced them to play until Gina got home. :)
Funny story with this picture:
Ruby was napping, so I decided I'd take a nap. I told the kids they could play Wii and to stay inside. I woke up to 4 O'Neal kids playing the Wii with my 3 kids. One of the many reasons I have learned not to nap.
Trips to Thanksgiving Point
Paul always has to make a Ninja Warrior course on the playground for them and then has to be the announcer as they run it. #iseeyouBYU games
We got football season tickets this year. The season has been extremely disappointing, but the games are still fun.
And enjoying every moment of the cooler temps, before the cold actually comes.
face painting, balloon animals, carnival games, unlimited food trucks, blowups, train, unlimited popcorn & cotton candy
aka the best day of their lives
and they had a photographer there that captured some pretty awesome shots.
Chalk the Block
Macey had a blast helping out Emmie and Julianne with their Harry Potter themed spot, until they got rained out. She made me promise to sign up with them next year.
These were our 2 favorite entries. Link and Batman...no surprise there.
I could never get a picture of Ruby because she never stopped.
For one of our Activity Days this month I planned a little back to school party.
Love these cute girls.
And lastly, we replaced Macey's full bed with a twin.
It's been amazing, she had no floor space before and now she's been having non stop dance parties with her new found square footage. And she's loving the more tween look. Now to just get the walls decorated.
September was a great month. lots of warm sunshine to enjoy, friends to play with, and finally being back on a schedule!
