March

May 18, 2019
March was mostly full of lots of broken arm drama.

The trauma of it all, plus the horrendous rash that developed under his big cast, made for a very clingy 6 year old.

and a 6 year old that could not fall asleep alone.

I tried to enjoy the cuddles, because I prayed once he felt better things would be back to normal.

When we went from the big orange cast to the blue cast, we got to see the rash first hand. It was bad and I was glad I had tried to be patient during all the complaining about the very itchy arm, because I think I would of ripped my arm off.

Life did get better once we were able to treat the worst of the rash and he was happy to have some movement back.

And the big day finally came!!  No more cast.

And then he walked around with his hand in the claw for the next 24 hours.

Hiking kept me sane during the stress of it all.

I even went solo hiking one friday because my entire hiking group ditched me.  but, my mental health desperately needed to get outside.

It was as creepy as I thought it would be, but worth the risk. :)

Luckily, i didn't have to brave the big bad mountains alone again.

Even worth it in the freezing cold.

We visited the aquarium.

Went to soccer games.

Played lots of basketball on our new hoop.

Lots of sunny days on the trampoline.

Ruby and I walked to school to volunteer in all sorts of crazy weather.

We went to The Bean Museum.

Parks.

And played with neighbor kids as much as possible.

Paul also had a birthday.

The sun was out, so we headed to the park as soon as church got out and the kids treated Paul to some rides on the swing.

And The Tween hung out here for most of the time. :)

He also had a little party with lots of video games and food. I got no pictures of the actual party, but this is him getting the basement set up for optimal Smash Brothers playing.

In house updates:

I got myself an amazing patio chair.

And we finally replaced the sunroom light and got pendents.

And this girl is getting closer and closer to kindergarten.

She is learning to write her name and couldn't be more proud.

crew-Crew

Aug 16, 2018
My Baby Crew-Crew is 6 years old.

I can't even believe it.

He should still be 2.

Or at least 4.

He is still the sweetest, cuddliest, funniest kid around.

He loves all things Pokemon, legos and weapons related.

He is the best big brother to Ruby and I hope one day she realizes what a lucky girl she is to have him.

His birthday requests were simple, like always.

donuts for breakfast.

Pokemon cupcakes.

a Pokemon birthday party.

Which really was just a Pokemon themed playdate with 2 of his best friends, followed by a trip to Menchies.

It's always fun to watch Crew get to be the center of attention, it doesn't happen very often and he soaks it up.

Pokemon lego building with Macey and Pokemon battling with Miles made for one happy birthday boy.

and then salmon and homemade fries for dinner.

Frying the fries for the birthday boy in our beautiful backyard.

He tells me he will always come visit me when he grows up and that he will never be too old to hug and kiss me and that I am his favorite person in the whole world. Really, I don't know what I did to get this kid, but I am glad he's mine.

I love this boy more than words can express.  He is pretty much the best of the best.

He sounds like a total sweetheart.

Crew is 5!

Jun 26, 2017
This kid is a whole hand.

All he wanted for his birthday was a waterslide party with the neighbor kids.

Simplest party ever.

I was at the dollar store the morning of his party and thought about grabbing some balloons, but then I decided "nope", don't want to set the bar too high for myself.

Waterslide, water balloons, juice boxes and popsicles.  No decorations, no candles, no snacks.  Just lots of fun.  It's my kind of party.

Paul pretty much provides the entertainment and had the most fun with the twins and tajen during the water fight.

The highlight of the party for Crew was Madden coming, his new bff.

These 2 are the cutest and so similar in personality, I love that Crew finally has a friend in the neighborhood to play with (Georgia babysits him).
This is typical Crew.  All the other kids were having a water fight with Paul, so he took the opportunity to play on the slide without all the chaos.

On Crew's actual birthday we headed to Goblin Valley to stay at The Yurt.

Can't beat this background for presents and cake.

And yes, I brought the "4" candle instead of the "5".  Mom fail.  Luckily Crew didn't seem to mind and all the kids just laughed at me.

We got him Walkie Talkies.  The real kind, not the kid kind.  It was the best present ever.

They ran around the rest of the night.  We heard lots of "Do you copy?" and "Brother! Brother!" and "I've captured her"

They gave each other call signs.  Crew was Honey Badger, Miles was Cobra,  and Macey was White Tiger

Best Friends: Liam and Madden
Favorite Game: Go Fish and Zelda
Favorite Book: The book with no pictures
Favorite Movie: Monsters Inc
Favorite Show: Yo Ki Watch
Favorite Things to do: play with friends
Favorite Superhero: Batman and Spiderman
Favorite Food: Hot Dogs

Crew is my sweet and sensitive child.  He still loves hugs and cuddles and always wants me to carry and hold him. He also happens to have the ability to move slower than any child I have ever seen.   Ruby still picks on him and he still doesn't fight back.

He is also very funny and always cracking jokes and using funny phrases. Currently he is obsessed with hot dogs and finds any excuse to bring them into conversation and pretends that everything tastes and smells like them.  He thinks it's hilarious.

And this is the look I get every time he is about to attack me or do something silly.

He has this little red spot on his cheek and I was asking him to help me remember to ask the doctor about when we went to his well check.

His response:

"Oh, it's ok mom.  Some kids that are really cute just have these."

And according the Doctor it is called spider nevus.  I like Crew's answer better. :)

Crew's favorite person is the whole world is Paul.  He loves to go to Lowe's with him, play video games with him, watch Superhero Movies with him,  and the highlight of his life was when Paul took off work early to take JUST Crew to see Lego Batman at the movie theatre.

He's an easy one to please, this kid.

And he is holding a worm, in case you are wondering why his hand looks like that.  Typical.

Crew is the best.  And I am so thankful for half day kindergarten, I am not ready to part with this kid for an entire school day.  I've got to savor these little kid days as long as I can.

march madness at home

Apr 4, 2017
March always comes just when we need it.

I never realize how much pent up energy these kids have inside them until they are set free after winter.

If the sun is out, these kids are out. Dinner is skipped many evenings, or shoveled into their mouths at a lightening pace, to get back outside.

Never a shortage of friends or things to do.

And I get to see my long lost friends too.  Life is good.

Crewby keeps me busy during the day with constant fort building.

I actually banned forts for April though, I'm a good mom like that.  Ruby loves to destroy them and Crew loves to scream and cry when this happens.  So, we are taking a break, before I completely loose it. :)

We registered Crew for Kindergarten this month.

I am not too happy about having him gone everyday next school year, but bless Utah and their half day kindergarten.

Look at this stud, I am not quite ready to part with him.
Although, he has been mastering the screaming fit lately, so I won't miss that. :)

Lucky for me, I still get this crazy girl all to myself for a little longer.

She is actually starting to play and pretend with her toys.  I love to watch.

She also uses everything as a magic wand and is constantly turning me into Belle or Ruby.

And look at this hair!

And these best friends are just the cutest.  Ruby's life just wouldn't be the same if Ella didn't live across the grass from us.

I often get asked if Ruby is still wild. The answer is "yes!"

There are a million stories I could share.  This particular picture though represents what happens the 1 time I forget to lock the closet door in her room.

She was suppose to be napping, but she of course sensed my mistake and emptied all my more dangerous craft items all over her room. She left the paper, crayons, googly eyes, pom-poms, craft sticks, washable markers, and tape alone.

Instead she went for ALL the permanent markers, ink pads, and scissors.  She covered every item in her room, and her body of course, in ink.  Luckily her wardrobe is installed with self locking technology, otherwise I am sure all of her clothes would be covered in permanent marker as well.

45 min in the bath and 45 min scrubbing her room and most of the marker is gone.  the palms of her hands and soles of her feet were pink for a week. And her bedframe is a lost cause.  Other than that, it didn't turn out too badly.

Once again, this is why we spend so much time outside. :)

Crew learned to ride a two wheeler last year, but he isn't quite ready for real bike rides, due to the fact that he can't ride straight and either rides into fences or off the curb.  I find it a bit stressful. So, we have been doing lots of practicing in the Target parking lot.

This particular day we ended up with a 3 bike pile up.  I think we need a little more work on the brakes.

There's of course been lots of basketball watching.  M&M are very into this year and have kept very good tabs on their favorite teams.

We bought Rogue One and these 3 LOVED it.  We sent them down to get their PJ's on and they all came up in their Star Wars gear.

We pulled Miles' Battle Bots arena down from it's high shelve and it's been quite entertaining.  Ellie even got in on the action when she stopped by to visit.

A highlight of every March is always Paul's Birthday.

homemade chocolate cake with homemade frosting...only the best for this guy.

He even got to come home from work early to play with us. And yes, notice another fort has been set up in the backyard.

We then got a babysitter.  Watched some basketball at Buffalo Wild Wings.  Then played mini golf and video games.  I love birthdays.

I also caught this cute leprechaun.

September

Oct 9, 2016
September was a whirlwind of soccer (3 days a week), parks, neighbor kids, school projects, after school activities, and getting used to the ever increasing hectic lifestyle that is 4 kids.

Paul forced us out of bed on a Saturday morning to go see the sunrise in the mountains.

Ruby was the only one that didn't mind.

We got donuts afterwards, so the rest of us quickly forgave him.

I feel like it's been a non stop party around here with kids over to play 24/7.

I believe this was my most insane trip trip to target in recent memory.  3 boys and a Ruby is tough work while waiting in line to checkout.

it's even better when we get to have our friends stay for dinner too.

Another neighborhood water fight.  This one proved slightly more violent than our one earlier in the summer and a few kids were hiding and crying by the end. :)

There has been constant soccer or football happening out front.  And my kids now refer to this area as "The Soccer Field".

With the big kids at school all day, these boys rule the neighborhood until about 2:30.

and these 2 cute girls of course too.

When 2:30 hits, the kids throw their backpacks in the door, grab a snack, and head outside.  I still drag them in most nights for dinner.

and when homework must be done, it is done outside whenever possible.
It's been nice having Macey and Miles both in school full day.

Crew, Ruby, and I have no trouble figuring out how to spend our time.

These 2 crack me up with their constant chatter in the backseat while we are running around during the day.

Ruby graduated from the stroller to her scooter for our canyon adventures.

love these mountains and that I still get to go on daytime adventures with these 2.

A few hours each week though we have to take Crew to preschool and it's just me and the tiny destroyer.

We found Macey's long lost diary key, that someone (Ruby) buried in the bottom on the aquafor jar. :)

Most days I do not know what to do with her, but at least I never get bored.

And really, they don't get much cuter.

Ruby and I even started running with some of our friends in the mornings while Crew is at preschool.

We are slowly feeling less and less like we are going to die each week.

Random hiighlights this month included:

Crazy Hair Day

the School carnival.

I was waiting in line with Miles for one of the bounce houses and he looked up at me and told me I could leave him alone with his friends and that I should go find some of my mom friends. :)

Activity Days fashion show.

Orem updated some of their parks and we've been taking advantage.

And these 2 are always up to something exciting.

And between all the chaos I finally read this book.

It's a new favorite and I've been trying to convince Macey to read it ever since.
