Crew is 7!

Jul 15, 2019
Crew turned 7!?!

This kid loves Pokemon, riding his bike, playing Mario Party, reading, Fang, and Battle Bots.

I did his birthday party at Classic Skating the day after school got out, which was over 2 weeks early.  It was amazing.  Friends were still in town, the place wasn't busy, and the chaos of summer hadn't set upon us yet.

I have turned down every kid that has asked for a party at Classic Skating, but Crew broke me down and convinced me to get the biggest party package.
Turned out to be awesome.

Lots of video games.

Pizza and icecream.

Ticket Blaster.

Skating and Lazer tag.

Bounce Houses.

And donuts and presents.

Plus, we got to have Holly as our party helper.

And Michelle kept things under control at the skating rink.

He was very kind to me on his actual birthday and easy to please.

Gummy Pizza and diet coke with mentos made for a happy 7 year old.

My last cuddle and selfie with my 6 year old crew.

My first selfie with 7 year old Crew.

I love this boy.  I cannot believe he is growing up so fast.  Good thing I am still his favorite person, I have to relish the position while I can.

May: AKA Maycember

Jul 2, 2019
This was a crazy May, I was so glad we weren't moving like last year, I might not of made it through.

Soccer ended.

Macey had her Scera Showcase.

It was so fun to have friends in other classes to watch too.

Lots of volunteer hours at the kids school.

Mom hikes.

Family Hikes.

There has been so much rain this spring and it's been fun getting to enjoy these green mountains for a little bit.

Fang Craziness.

He had his first trip to the canyon for a bbq.

First experience with farm life at Wheeler Farms.

And he had his first surgery.

Plus, a million photo shoots where he showed off his adorableness.

Any day that was not rainy, we were out enjoying the sunshine.

And you really can never beat warm evenings in the neighborhood.

We hit the neighborhood jackpot once again.  I hope these kids realize how lucky they are.

Sunshine also meant we could do some yard work.  I have never seen a kid so excited to clean out window wells.

I had an exciting day at the dentist with 3 kids in 3 different rooms getting 3 different cavities filled.  Ruby was a dream though and was stroking her hygienists face and telling her how pretty she was, so i spent my time running between the boys rooms and keeping them from punching the dentist.

Miles earned his long anticipated late night with 3 of his best friends.

Rainy days though are a great excuse to head up to the aquarium.

Macey and I got to take a tour of the MTC with some of the girls in our ward, it was way cooler than I thought it be.

In house news I got my built ins started and my front door finally installed.

Then I had to patiently wait for them to get stained and painted.

The biggest event of the month though was Crew having surgery to get the rods out of his during the last week of school.

I cannot even believe how easy this surgery was compared to the first.

I was worried I'd have to go back to the recovery area after surgery like I did last time, but nope.  They wheeled him back into the room wide awake and telling jokes to his nurse.

They even arranged all his special toys around him. And he happily drank an unlimited supply of slushies instead of yelling at the nurses that they were trying to kill him like last time. :)

Showing off his lava rock a friend gave him at school.

And we learned a few days later he really is allergic to iodine.  But, the rash was much more manageable not being under a cast for over a month.

phew.  Still to come in May Ruby's birthday and the last day of school.

March

May 18, 2019
March was mostly full of lots of broken arm drama.

The trauma of it all, plus the horrendous rash that developed under his big cast, made for a very clingy 6 year old.

and a 6 year old that could not fall asleep alone.

I tried to enjoy the cuddles, because I prayed once he felt better things would be back to normal.

When we went from the big orange cast to the blue cast, we got to see the rash first hand. It was bad and I was glad I had tried to be patient during all the complaining about the very itchy arm, because I think I would of ripped my arm off.

Life did get better once we were able to treat the worst of the rash and he was happy to have some movement back.

And the big day finally came!!  No more cast.

And then he walked around with his hand in the claw for the next 24 hours.

Hiking kept me sane during the stress of it all.

I even went solo hiking one friday because my entire hiking group ditched me.  but, my mental health desperately needed to get outside.

It was as creepy as I thought it would be, but worth the risk. :)

Luckily, i didn't have to brave the big bad mountains alone again.

Even worth it in the freezing cold.

We visited the aquarium.

Went to soccer games.

Played lots of basketball on our new hoop.

Lots of sunny days on the trampoline.

Ruby and I walked to school to volunteer in all sorts of crazy weather.

We went to The Bean Museum.

Parks.

And played with neighbor kids as much as possible.

Paul also had a birthday.

The sun was out, so we headed to the park as soon as church got out and the kids treated Paul to some rides on the swing.

And The Tween hung out here for most of the time. :)

He also had a little party with lots of video games and food. I got no pictures of the actual party, but this is him getting the basement set up for optimal Smash Brothers playing.

In house updates:

I got myself an amazing patio chair.

And we finally replaced the sunroom light and got pendents.

And this girl is getting closer and closer to kindergarten.

She is learning to write her name and couldn't be more proud.

crew-Crew

Aug 16, 2018
My Baby Crew-Crew is 6 years old.

I can't even believe it.

He should still be 2.

Or at least 4.

He is still the sweetest, cuddliest, funniest kid around.

He loves all things Pokemon, legos and weapons related.

He is the best big brother to Ruby and I hope one day she realizes what a lucky girl she is to have him.

His birthday requests were simple, like always.

donuts for breakfast.

Pokemon cupcakes.

a Pokemon birthday party.

Which really was just a Pokemon themed playdate with 2 of his best friends, followed by a trip to Menchies.

It's always fun to watch Crew get to be the center of attention, it doesn't happen very often and he soaks it up.

Pokemon lego building with Macey and Pokemon battling with Miles made for one happy birthday boy.

and then salmon and homemade fries for dinner.

Frying the fries for the birthday boy in our beautiful backyard.

He tells me he will always come visit me when he grows up and that he will never be too old to hug and kiss me and that I am his favorite person in the whole world. Really, I don't know what I did to get this kid, but I am glad he's mine.

I love this boy more than words can express.  He is pretty much the best of the best.

Crew is 5!

Jun 26, 2017
This kid is a whole hand.

All he wanted for his birthday was a waterslide party with the neighbor kids.

Simplest party ever.

I was at the dollar store the morning of his party and thought about grabbing some balloons, but then I decided "nope", don't want to set the bar too high for myself.

Waterslide, water balloons, juice boxes and popsicles.  No decorations, no candles, no snacks.  Just lots of fun.  It's my kind of party.

Paul pretty much provides the entertainment and had the most fun with the twins and tajen during the water fight.

The highlight of the party for Crew was Madden coming, his new bff.

These 2 are the cutest and so similar in personality, I love that Crew finally has a friend in the neighborhood to play with (Georgia babysits him).
This is typical Crew.  All the other kids were having a water fight with Paul, so he took the opportunity to play on the slide without all the chaos.

On Crew's actual birthday we headed to Goblin Valley to stay at The Yurt.

Can't beat this background for presents and cake.

And yes, I brought the "4" candle instead of the "5".  Mom fail.  Luckily Crew didn't seem to mind and all the kids just laughed at me.

We got him Walkie Talkies.  The real kind, not the kid kind.  It was the best present ever.

They ran around the rest of the night.  We heard lots of "Do you copy?" and "Brother! Brother!" and "I've captured her"

They gave each other call signs.  Crew was Honey Badger, Miles was Cobra,  and Macey was White Tiger

Best Friends: Liam and Madden
Favorite Game: Go Fish and Zelda
Favorite Book: The book with no pictures
Favorite Movie: Monsters Inc
Favorite Show: Yo Ki Watch
Favorite Things to do: play with friends
Favorite Superhero: Batman and Spiderman
Favorite Food: Hot Dogs

Crew is my sweet and sensitive child.  He still loves hugs and cuddles and always wants me to carry and hold him. He also happens to have the ability to move slower than any child I have ever seen.   Ruby still picks on him and he still doesn't fight back.

He is also very funny and always cracking jokes and using funny phrases. Currently he is obsessed with hot dogs and finds any excuse to bring them into conversation and pretends that everything tastes and smells like them.  He thinks it's hilarious.

And this is the look I get every time he is about to attack me or do something silly.

He has this little red spot on his cheek and I was asking him to help me remember to ask the doctor about when we went to his well check.

His response:

"Oh, it's ok mom.  Some kids that are really cute just have these."

And according the Doctor it is called spider nevus.  I like Crew's answer better. :)

Crew's favorite person is the whole world is Paul.  He loves to go to Lowe's with him, play video games with him, watch Superhero Movies with him,  and the highlight of his life was when Paul took off work early to take JUST Crew to see Lego Batman at the movie theatre.

He's an easy one to please, this kid.

And he is holding a worm, in case you are wondering why his hand looks like that.  Typical.

Crew is the best.  And I am so thankful for half day kindergarten, I am not ready to part with this kid for an entire school day.  I've got to savor these little kid days as long as I can.
